3kw Water feature Pumping system, london
A private client approached Irrigation and Water and instructed us to solve the problem of his circulation pumps burning out within a few months of installation. After an initial site survey and a comprehensive quotation the client gave us the go ahead to under take the work.
The situation was that water was drawn from a lake over a weir into a small collection pit which had a submersible pump, which then transfered water to the top of the garden and allowed it to flow down the water feature back into the lake. The problem was occuring when the high head submersible pump got blocked with weed and alge and stopped the flow of water. We replaced this pump with a surface mounted Lowara SHOE pump which could pass solids up to 22mm in size, a new non return valve was also fitted and connected to the exsiting 50mm PE pipe. To protect the pump, a low water float switch was also installed within the collection pit. The new pump was sized to give a flow of 11m3 per hour, however if the client wanted to improve the flow a second 50mm PE pipe could be installed and conneced almost doubling the flow to the feature. The hight difference was the biggest obstacle with almost 16 meters rise to the top. Irrigation and Water had to draw upon their pumping knowlegde to achieve the result the client required.
How can we help?
Irrigation and Water installed the aeration units in August of 2010; they have been very successful in reducing the algae problem and in helping to improve the quality of the water. Also, the water feature has provided a focal point for the 18th hole.Course Manager Glenn Norris, Haverhill golf club, Suffolk
