Alexandra palace cricket club, london
Working closely with a contractual partner Irrigation and water were awarded the contract to install a new irrigation system to Alexandra Palace cricket club. While the main contractor Hugh Pearl Land Drainage Ltd installed a comprhensive drainage system comprising of 2000 meters of sports field drainage we set about installing the 63mm polyethylene main and hose conection points at the correct spacings to accommodate two Speedyrain hose reel irrigators. These irrigators are a great low cost solution for large open space sport surface like cricket out fields and football pitches. A Spell underground water storage tank was installed, capable of holding 60 m3 of water with a main backup fill if required. Due to the posibilty of vandalism all equiment needed to be either lockable or out of sight so the decision was made to install two Lowara 4" SC borehole pumps, which needed to be incased in a shroud to keep them cool within the tank. The control panel was installed within the club house and would allow either one or both irrigators to be used at once.
How can we help?
Irrigation and Water installed the aeration units in August of 2010; they have been very successful in reducing the algae problem and in helping to improve the quality of the water. Also, the water feature has provided a focal point for the 18th hole.Course Manager Glenn Norris, Haverhill golf club, Suffolk
