Clacton-on-sea golf club, Essex, aeration fountain
As a major feature on the golf course the water hazard in the front of the 2nd green was in need of a little extra and it was decided by the club that a water feature would not only enhance the green but improve the water quality. Irrigation and water was asked to look into the posibilty of installing a water feature and a sultable power supply from the green keepers shed. After investigating the power source it was calculated that a 3 core steel wire armoured cable of 85mm2 would be needed to carry 240 volts to the 2nd green. An Otterbine 1hp fountain was selected and after discussions with the club a tri star pattern was choosen, with the 1hp unit approximately 4m3 of water is effected and oxygen introduced thus reducing alge growth. The fountain was installed and commissioned during May 2013. The system is controlled by a time switch installed within a false duck house at the edge of the lake.
How can we help?
Irrigation and Water installed the aeration units in August of 2010; they have been very successful in reducing the algae problem and in helping to improve the quality of the water. Also, the water feature has provided a focal point for the 18th hole.Course Manager Glenn Norris, Haverhill golf club, Suffolk
