Ladywell Sports Arena, Catford, London
After competitive tendering Irrigation and Water were the chosen contractor to supply and install a sports turf irrigation system at Ladywell Arena. The system comprised of a 25 cubic meter steel corrugated tank suppiled by Evenproducts and erected on a reinforced concrete base. A Lowara variable speed booster pump set was installed within a GRP cabinet then connected to the tank and 63mm PE main. As the running track was a main obstacle which could not be damaged in anyway, we had to directionally drill from one side of the arena to the sports pitch, Genseed Underground Services Ltd were chosen to carryout this operation using their Vermeer 24 x 40A directional drilling machine. The system allowed the client to run two Rainmobile travelling sprinklers via two automatic handwater points which could be controled by the Hunter controller.
How can we help?
Irrigation and Water installed the aeration units in August of 2010; they have been very successful in reducing the algae problem and in helping to improve the quality of the water. Also, the water feature has provided a focal point for the 18th hole.Course Manager Glenn Norris, Haverhill golf club, Suffolk
